Medicare Advantage Plans
Medicare Advantage Plans offer medical coverage that is at least as good as what Original Medicare provides, plus extra benefits like dental, vision and hearing aid coverage. Plus with Medicare Advantage plans, your prescription drug coverage is also included as part of your plan.

WHAT ARE MEDICARE ADVANTAGE PLANS?
Medicare Advantage Plans—often referred to as “Part C” or “MAPD Plans”—act as another way of obtaining your Medicare Part A and Part B coverage. Being offered by private Medicare-approved companies under the rules and regulations of Medicare officials, Medicare Advantage Plans use a network of providers and also offer extra coverage benefits such as dental care, eyeglasses, hearing aids, wellness programs, and prescription drug coverage. In some cases, out-of-network coverage will be provided in your plan, but often at a higher rate.
To help mitigate unexpected costs, Medicare Advantage Plans set a limit on your annual out-of-pocket expenses for covered services. Also, to clear up any confusion, if you do decide to enroll in a Medicare Advantage Plan, you’ll still have Original Medicare, but will be getting most of your Part A and Part B coverage through a private insurance company that is contracted with the federal government.
WHAT DO MEDICARE ADVANTAGE PLANS COVER?
Almost everything covered under Original Medicare parts A & B (doctor and hospital coverage) are covered under your Advantage Plan. Depending on what plan you choose, some of the additional benefits that Medicare Advantage (Plan C) can include are: dental, vision, hearing, and even fitness memberships that include both area gyms and at-home online classes.
Is a Medicare Advantage Plan right for you?
When it comes to deciding whether or not a Medicare Advantage Plan is right for you, it is important to understand the benefits they provide over Original Medicare coverage. For instance, many Medicare Advantage Plans offer coverage for services that Original Medicare does not; such as hearing, dental, vision, and wellness programs (i.e. gym memberships, etc.). Advantage Plans can also be individually tailored to provide treatment and services for specific conditions or illnesses. These added benefits cover services ranging from transportation costs to doctor visits, over-the-counter drugs, as well as other services that promote health and wellness. That said, it is important to identify and compare plans that best suit your needs and qualifications before you decide to enroll.
