Manage Your Part D Coverage

How to Set Up Your Medicare.gov Account:

A Step-by-Step Guide to help you review your Part D coverage every year.

Your Medicare.gov account is your personal online portal where you can save and update your prescriptions to compare Part D plans each fall.

1. Create Your Medicare.gov Account.

  • Go to www.Medicare.gov

  • Click Log In (upper right corner)

  • Select Create an Account

  • Enter the following exactly as they appear on your Medicare card:

    • Medicare Number

    • Last Name

    • Date of Birth

    • Part A Start Date

  • Create a username

  • Create a password

  • Choose security questions

  • Enter email address or mobile phone number for verification codes

  • Click Submit

Tip: Write your username and password somewhere secure. You will use this account every year.

2. Log In for the First Time.

  • Return to Medicare.gov and Log In

  • Enter your username + password

  • Enter the verification code sent to your email or phone

  • You’re in!

 

3. Save Your Preferred Pharmacy.

  • From your dashboard, select “My Saved Drugs & Pharmacies”

  • Click Add Pharmacy

  • Enter your ZIP code

  • Choose:

    • Your preferred pharmacy

    • (Optional) a second retail pharmacy

    • (Optional) a mail-order pharmacy

  • Click Save

 

4. Add Your Medications.

  • Within “My Saved Drugs & Pharmacies”

  • Find the Saved Drugs section

  • Click Add Drug

  • Type the name of your medication

  • Choose the correct:

    • Strength (ex: 20 mg)

    • Form (tablet, capsule, etc.)

    • Frequency

  • Click Add to My Drugs

  • Repeat this process for all your medications

  • Click Save

Tip: Update your list during the year whenever medications change.

 

5. What Happens During AEP?

Each year in the fall (Oct 15–Dec 7), you will:

  • Log in

  • Use your saved information to review drug plan options

  • Enroll through Medicare.gov if you decide to change plans

This will ensure you always have the most cost-effective coverage.
